William E. Hahn was born in New York, N.Y. on September 3, 1946. He was admitted to the Florida bar and U.S. District Court, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida in 1972. He was admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit in 1974 and the Eleventh Circuit in 1981.

Mr. Hahn graduated from Marietta College with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and Political Science in 1968. He received his Juris Doctorate in 1972 from the University of Florida and was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa and Phi Delta Phi. Mr. Hahn was a member of the Editorial Board of the University of Florida's Law Review from 1971-1972. He was the author of a Law Review article, "Speedy Trial in Florida: Has the Defendant's Shield Become His Sword?" University of Florida Law Review Vol. XXIV, p. 517, 1972.

Mr. Hahn is listed in Florida's Leading Attorneys, Personal Injury Law and Hospital Law and Who's Who Among American Lawyers from 1998 to the present. Mr. Hahn is a member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association, The Florida Bar and has been a member of the Executive Committee, Trial Lawyers Section of the Florida Bar since 1999. He served on the Florida Supreme Court Committee on Standard Jury Instructions in Civil Cases from 1994-2000. In 1999, he served as President of the Tampa Bay Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). Since that time, he has been on the Board of Directors and is now serving as President of the Florida Chapter of ABOTA (FLABOTA). He was appointed, by Governor Bush, to the Judicial Nominating Committee for a term of three years (2001-2004). Mr. Hahn is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers.

Mr. Hahn has been a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer by the Florida Bar Board of Legal Specialization and Education since 1987 and for the last 5 years has been responsible for the trial practice lecture for the Florida Bar Review Course for lawyers seeking board certification.
